The Zambia Nurses' Christian Fellowship (ZNCF) was honoured to host the Nurses Christian Fellowship International (NCFI) Africa Regional Conference, which gathered nurses and midwives from across the continent and beyond for days of fellowship, learning, and professional growth under the theme "Courage to make a difference in Nursing and Midwifery" (Philippians 1:27a).
Vice President Opens the Conference
Vice President Mutale Nalumango officially opened the conference, saying Government is committed to reducing the backlog of unemployed nurses while improving the quality of healthcare services across the country.
Mrs. Nalumango added that Government is also focused on enhancing career progression for serving healthcare staff, noting that Zambia's vision of equitable access to healthcare cannot be achieved without the dedication and sacrifice of nurses and midwives.
A Profession That Is a Calling
Health Minister Dr. Alex Katakwe said Government appreciates the vital role nurses and midwives play, especially in maternal care. He emphasised that the medical profession is not just a job but a calling, and that the commitment to care for the sick — often under difficult conditions — does not go unnoticed.
Connecting Nurses Worldwide
Nurses Christian Fellowship International President Anne Biro said the fellowship aims to connect nurses and midwives worldwide to share experiences, address challenges, and promote excellence in service.
Zambia Nurses Christian Fellowship Chairperson Boniface Besa noted that the conference attracted participants from Britain, Canada, Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Uganda, and Eswatini.
Faith in the Workplace
Kabwata Baptist Church Pastor Conrad Mbewe urged Christian nurses and midwives to demonstrate their values in all areas of life, including the workplace.
We thank everyone who travelled, served, prayed, and gave to make this conference a success. To God be the glory.
